Health Insurance Reform PDF Print E-mail

Too many families are struggling with the high costs of health insurance. The costs aren’t just hurting families, it is driving up costs for businesses, which is making it harder for everyone during these difficult economic times. Ben knows that our health care system is broken. As a New Mexico Public Regulation Commissioner, Ben fought to close loopholes that allowed insurers to unfairly deny coverage to New Mexicans.

Congress has already taken action to make health care more accessible. Ben voted to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, a program to cover children, by 11 million, with 32,000 additional children receiving health care coverage in New Mexico.

However, there are 47 million Americans who do not have health care, and too many people are being hurt by the rising costs of health care. Health care costs are skyrocketing. Since 2000, health care premiums have doubled while wages have gone up by just 3 percent. It's time to fix this broken system that is making it difficult for families to make ends meet.

Ben supports comprehensive health insurance reform that makes health care affordable and accessible for American families.

Ben joined his colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass comprehensive health insurance reform that will provide increase security and stability for those with insurance, protect individuals from unfair insurance company practices, and make insurance more affordable and accessible for millions of Americans.
